Services Offered
Prenatal Care
Prenatal care starts as soon as you discover you’re pregnant and takes place either in my office or your home. Appointments last about an hour and occur with an increasing frequency towards the last trimester of pregnancy.
Childbirth Education
Childbirth education is an ongoing process that takes place during prenatal visits and is tailored to each individual woman and her needs.
Nutritional and Herbal and Aromatherapy Counselling
Nutrition is one of the most important aspects of good prenatal care. At each appointment we will discuss your changing nutritional requirements and review briefly your diet.
Hospital Attendance
If you prefer to deliver your baby in the hospital doula services are provided. This service includes three meetings starting approximately 6 weeks before your due date, and two to three times as needed after Mother and baby return home.
Management of Home Delivery
If you have good prenatal care and a normal pregnancy you can expect to have a normal birth at home. On call services are provided for you starting 3 weeks before your due date. During labor a small team of midwives, usually two, will manage the delivery of your baby, and stay for several hours after the birth. There will be a minimum of 4 meetings after delivery: 24 hours after the birth, three days after and at two and 6 weeks.
Pain Control , Water birth, and Aquadoula Rental
Water is an ancient form of healing therapy and for some women useful for pain management during labor and or delivery. The use of a birth tub is available with priority given to clients.
Newborn Care and Breastfeeding support
It is recommended that your baby be put to breast within the first hour after birth. The midwives will support you in breastfeeding by helping to assure the baby has a good latch, the Mamma and baby are in comfortable positions of which there are many, and everyone is happy.
